All of me
I looked up Billboard Top Songs 2014 on YouTube but could not really find good songs on my ears except "All of Me by John Legend. This song has been on "The HOT 100" of the billboard chart 52 weeks in a row!
I was at the gym to lose my belly. The moment I heard this song I stopped everything, got off from the treadmill and started watching the music video on the screen. I thought the guy playing the piano is an actor not an actual singer as he looks like poet to me. Apparently, John wrote the song for his wife, Chrissy Teigen.
He wrote it years ago and then sang it for her and she started crying. He sang it at his wedding for his wife and a lot of people use the track for their weddings as well.
The lyrics is really emotional, "loves all of you, all your perfect imperfections" "I give you all, all of me and you give me all, all of you" You can tell John is fully in to her.

Let’s talk top 3 music countdown!
I present to you the top 3 songs in the Take 40
Australian Countdown.
Number 3: “All About That Bass”
Meghan Trainor.
Meghan Trainor, the American singer hit
the jackpot with her chart topping track “All About That Bass”. This song not
only hit the top of the charts in Australia, but also in America and across other
parts of the world. She is not only making a single, but through her song
making a statement about body image. At only 20 years of age this has become her
greatest achievement thus far, and I am sure there will be more to come!
Number 2: “Thinking Out Loud” Ed
Sheeran
British boy Ed Sheeran has had hit
after hit and us Aussies love him! From “A Team” to “Lego House”, “Sing” and
now “Thinking Out Loud” (and many more in between), Sheeran has displayed his
soulful voice and blissful, beautiful lyrics which has won him the hearts of
many. Since 2011, he has had many nominations and wins, such as at the
Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards, MTV Music Awards and nominations for a Grammy.
Not bad for a 23 year old.
Number 1: “You Ruin Me” The
Veronicas
The Veronicas have made an epic come
back with their latest track “You Ruin Me” which has shot up to take first
place. These Aussie twins have come back onto our charts after a seven year break.
Their previous albums “The Secret Life of” and “Hook me up” were also
successful, earning 4 and 2 ARIA Platinum respectively. “Hook me up” the single
had also taken first place in the Australian charts back in 2007. We welcome
the girls as they continue to venture in the recording studio…looking forward
to some more great music by them!

The Script
Guess who will be in Down Under on Tuesday 14th October 2014?
Yes, it’s the famous Irish Pop Rock back from Dublin called the Script is
touring in Australia playing exclusive shows at Sydney’s Metro Theatre and
Melbourne’s Beck Caulfield Guineas. Responsible for some of the biggest tracks
of the last ten years, this outstanding band will tour Australia in celebration
of the release of their fourth studio album No
Sound without Silent which was already out in the market on the 12th
of September through Sony.
To give you guys a little background about this group, the
band consists of lead vocalist/pianist Danny
O’Donoghue, vocalist/guitarist Mark
Sheehan, and drummer Glen Power. Their
first ever album (debut album) was released in August 2008, featuring hit songs
“The Man Who Can’t Be Moved” and “Breakeven (Falling to Pieces) where it peaked
at number one in Ireland and the UK. Their music has also been featured in
popular television shows such as Made in
Chelsea, The Vampire Diaries and the Ghost Whisperer.
On the recording process of their latest album, Danny
O’Donoghue stated, “We’d come off stage and start recoding so when we hit the
studio bus. Everything’s massive, everything’s larger than life on stage so
when we hit the studio we wanted it to have that same impact”.

One Language
I know, I
know- we’ve heard it many many times (even on this blog!) so why am I referring
to it again? Gangnam Style by the famous Psy was one track which went
absolutely viral (clearly with its $2 billion + views as Kat mentioned). No matter what race, age or gender you are of
I am sure there is not one person that did not at least smile whilst watching
this video. The interesting thing is that I am sure most of us do not
understand a single word he is singing
except for “Heeey sexy lady”. Then why on Earth did this song become viral?
Gangnam
Style, if you do not know, is actually a Korean Pop track (aka. K-pop). This
musical genre is one which is increasing in popularity each day, with its fans not
just being Koreans but those who do not even speak or understand the Korean
language! There have been multiple concerts which have been held in Australia, treating
the Australian K-pop fans.
So
back to my question on why on Earth Gangnam Style became viral…
The popularity of K-pop proves that music is indeed a universal language. One
which does not need people to understand every or any utterance made by the
artist but rather unites all people with simply the tempo, beat and background
score. This is the beauty of music - allowing for our appreciation of it to
increase.
Check out
the following video – it shows exactly how viral Gangnam Style went!
